Do you want to get a community project or even a business off the ground?

Do you need someone to hold your hand as you take the first steps towards something that helps your community that is both satisfying and financially self-supporting?

I am Susan and I am someone who finds herself helping those wanting to start projects. I am not always sure how it happens. The friend at church says I want to do this and a few weeks later we have a prototype project up and runnng so that we can both learn more about what is important to us. The neighbour says I was to starting doing this to help others and within the week I had a prototype online course ready for her to test. I see the need and I jump in and meet it. It just sort of happens I am not sure why except that somehow that is the way that I am wired.

It is normal it is natural for me. Over the years I have learnt more about navigating the world of getting projects off the ground by learning the hard way what works and what does not from starting my own porjects. I have also learned the easy way by watching others do their thing.

There are some things that I know are essential. You can only take people where you have been yourself. Think about it Moses only led a multitude of people in the wilderness after he had been a shepherd watching over his father-in-law”s sheep. The people he led only knew about life in Egypt he knew about leading unruly sheep in the wilderness.

Relieving our pain

It hurts when I am unable to share what I have learnt. It is a struggle keeping my mouth shut. It is a desperate need to share what I know and help people in the way that I know that I can. What is the thing that hurts you when you know you can do it? What are you truly pasionate about? What do you want to get off the ground that will change the world around you?

One of my biggest lessons is that often you can do even more when you use business principles rather than running a charity. I even wonder if by setting up charities if churches have restricted their ability to impact the world around them. Think about it someone has to make the money that is given to charity and if you don’t make it someone else has to.

It hurts when you cannot fulfill our dreams.

Surely we are given dreams for a reason yet so many people approach retirement age with unfulfilled dreams. Whenever we move to a new stage in life whether it be marriage, divorce, widowhood, an empty nest, retirement we start with a fresh canvas. We can put the previous one behind us. Yes we are still the painter who likes to use the same colours and likes to paint the same scenes but it is a fresh canvas we can use to paint a new picture. A new picture that does not repeat the mistakes we have already learnt from. We can use all that experience to create something new and fresh that impacts the world. The big probem too many of us give up while it is still possible to do something.

So what is your pain, the dream that you want to bring to reality that you are wondering if you will ever materialise? What are you going to do about it? I once heard that the richest place in a community was the cemetry becaseu there were so many dreams there. Don’t let your dream die with you. Do something about it now and yes I have a variety of ideas about how to help you.
