Here is an overview of the things that you really want to know about me.
Skills
I am a competent computer user. This includes being able to manipulate images, use a variety of different software programs to create videos from still images and text and use WordPress to set up websites. I have set up subscription-based websites, used email responders such as aWeber and Mailchimp, and uploaded videos to Amazon S3.
Achievements
I amaze myself looking back to 1995 to realise the rapid progress that I made towards being an IT tutor. I started a basic turn your computer on type course in the January. After that jumped straight to a Training for Work course that enabled me to gain a level 3 IT course as well as gain work experience as an IT tutor. If ever there was proof that I can jump into situations and then learn to swim this was it. This is not the only time I have done this but it was the most dramatic.
Qualifications
I have a range of IT qualifications but none of them cover the skills listed above, mainly because colleges do not teach those kinds of skills. My highest level of qualifications are in education (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and IT (Post Graduate Diploma in Multimedia Applications) One area where I have gathered qualifications relates to helping people including counselling skills, Mental Health First Aid and supporting those who want to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. Another area where I have qualifications is related to self-employment including NVQ in Business Start Up and Computerised Accounts.
Experience
I have gained a wide range of experience as an IT tutor, different age ranges, different settings and different qualifications. This includes working as an online tutor. In addition I have taught A Level Ethics and Philosophy. More recently I have been trying to develop a social enterprise that is based online. This has made it possible to keep the things I covered on the Multimedia Applications course up to date. It also means that I am familiar with finding my way around the online world, especially finding my way around the mine field of internet marketing. One of the reasons why one of the projects I have been trying to develop is an Internet Business Start Up programme.
Three words that describe me really well
Creative because I have always enjoyed making things. It could be sewing or crochet, which are useful skills when it comes to making things to wear or for furnishing my home. It could be using PowerPoint or proprietary video programs to create videos that I can include on the websites that I have set up.
Survivor because I have survived the break-up of a long and ultimately destructive marriage to someone who had been diagnosed with a mental health condition. My coping mechanisms for many years were short term teaching contracts plus course after course after course. This explains the length of the lists on the next few pages.
Honest because I need not have said anything about being a survivor or even included as much detail of these contracts or qualifications as I have.
